LEGS Training Programme
The LEGS training programme focuses on training of trainers (TOT) at regional and national level, and applications are now invited - see below.The LEGS TOT training is based on a basic LEGS training module, which was developed by the team of six consultant trainers and piloted in February 2010. The TOT curriculum has been finalised and the first TOT (Horn and East Africa) has taken place.
The first phase of seven regional TOT courses will take place between April and October 2010, with timings as follows: Completed application forms should be submitted by the deadline to the LEGS Administrator.
1. Horn/East Africa - Addis Ababa, Ethiopia [25th to 31 April 2010] - this training has been completed - click here for news of the training
2. SE Asia - Phnom Penh, Cambodia [30th May-4th June 2010] - this training has been completed - click here for news of the training
3. Horn/East Africa second TOT [25-30 July 2010] – application process now closed
4. South Asia - Nepal [2nd to 7th August 2010] - application process now closed
5. West Africa [26th September to 1st October 2010] - Deadline 9th August - Apply here, Version francaise ici
6. Southern Africa [17th to 22nd October 2010] - Deadline 15th August - Apply here
7. Pakistan/Afghanistan [November 2010] - Deadline 1st September - Apply here
Funding to support the remaining six planned TOT courses - in Central Africa, North Africa, Middle East, China/Mongolia, Latin America and the Caribbean - will be sought in the coming months and these courses are expected to take place in 2011. LEGS 3-day Training Courses
The graduates of the LEGS TOT courses are now LEGS Trainers and are available to run the 3-day LEGS Training Courses on demand. The very first LEGS 3-day Training Course took place in Nairobi from 2-4 June 2010, run by the Inter-Agency Working Group (IAWG) in Nairobi with funding from Trocaire and Irish Aid, with 35 participants drawn from the Horn/East Africa region including NGO, UN and other international agency representatives.
