Independent LEGS

By 2nd October 2018October 15th, 2018News

After many years of positive partnership with its host organisation Vetwork UK, the Livestock Emergency Guidelines and Standards project (LEGS) is now an independent entity.  LEGS was registered as a charitable incorporated organisation (not-for-profit/NGO) in the UK in August 2018.

The LEGS Strategic Plan (see here for a summary) confirms LEGS’ position and contribution to the current discourse on a number of key issues such as disaster risk reduction, linking relief and development, and the localisation agenda. As an independent organisation LEGS will continue to develop a network of LEGS users and practitioners around the world, while maintaining evidence-based quality control of LEGS standards and other LEGS resources.

The new LEGS organisation will be managed by a Board of Trustees with strategic support from an Advisory Committee drawn from the former LEGS Steering Group. Key LEGS project personnel will continue to work for the new organisation.

We look forward to an exciting new phase of LEGS, working with practitioners and policy makers around the world to continue to support livestock-keepers affected by crises.
