LEGS Evidence-Based Approach

The LEGS Project is an independent initiative that aims to improve the quality and livelihoods impact of livestock-related projects in humanitarian situations.

LEGS Impact Database

LEGS tracks and uses evaluations, reviews and impact assessments of livestock and livestock-related projects as part of our evidence base.

Impact Database

If you would like to see some of the main documents we’ve used to develop and update LEGS, please download our Impact Database. The database is a simple spreadsheet which lists a set of documents by region, country, type of emergency and type of livestock intervention. The database will be revised updated in early 2020 and once completed will be posted here, with links to download the documents referred to.

If you have any evaluation or impact assessments reports that you would like to add to the database, please contact the LEGS Coordinator.

LEGS Handbook

The LEGS Handbook

The LEGS Handbook provides standards and guidelines for appropriate and timely livestock-based livelihoods responses in emergencies, using a participatory and evidence-based approach. The Handbook was produced through a broad consultation process, drawing on good practice worldwide. The LEGS Handbook is a companion to The Sphere Handbook alongside other humanitarian standards which make up the Humanitarian Standards Partnership.
